Exhaustion has set in…

Friday evening and the exhaustion has certainly caught up with me. It’s not the normal exhaustion of a long week at work. This has indeed been an exceptionally full week. It started off sporting the “10-school-day” countdown ’till Christmas break. That, in and of itself, is enough to start tiring out the faint of heart. But, I am not fain of heart! So the week continued with a 1/2 day of school on Tuesday. I left at lunch time to fly to West Virginia. I arrived in WVa to snow on the ground and flurries falling from the sky. Exciting for this southern lady to witness- right up until I had to leave the plane and step into the weather. Brrrr… 12 degrees is REALLY COLD!

Nonetheless, I had landed in West Virginia and was ready to follow-up with kindergarten teachers on a training I did over the summer. When I work with teachers, I run on pure adrineline. I love training and coaching these awesome folks. So Tuesday night and Wednesday I was all pumped up and working hard. Not much sleep Tuesday night and a FULL day of training and connecting with teachers on Wednesday.

In addition to the wired feeling I had going for 24 hours, I was cold! My body was working overtime to keep itself warm. Oh sure, I was sporting my long underwear, but I am a southerner!

I was so tired by Wednesday evening, I fell asleep in the airport. Thankfully, I woke when the gate attendant announced the final boarding call for my flight home!

It was late when I got home, but I was still able to get up extra early to fulfill my Thursday morning duty at school. My extra early school day ended with a conference call lasting late into the afternoon. Phew, I was tired. But, there was my youngest son wanting to spend time with his momma. We did his homework and snuggled up on the couch for a Christmas special on TV.

When we both began nodding off, I declared bed time and we went to bed. Slept like a log- only to wake this morning to an appointment for labwork at my doctor’s office. After lab work- I made the mad dash to school where my kindergartners spent the first half of the day rotating from one guest speaker to the next. FUN- but outside of our normal activity so everybody was geared up.

Ended the day whith an impromptu parent conference. Phewie! Finally made it home and planted myself on the couch. Thank goodness for my husband and K&W cafeteria! Darling husband brought home dinner for the family.

But, here’s the beauty of the day- JR, our dog, and I are laying on the couch, it is dark outside, and my husband is playing with the kids. The peace and quiet is marvelous and soon I’ll be heading off to dream land. A great week behind and a restful weekend ahead.

Oh my gosh, Wynn, what a week! Sounds like you were able to stay pretty even through it, if a little wired and tired! Hope you had a restful weekend. Thanks for sharing the picture of the snow. It’s beautiful. My family in northwestern PA got a lot of snow too, and my brother emailed me pics. Here outside of Philly, only a few flurries in the air the past couple days.

Oh my Wynn! ‘Tis the season, right? As hectic as this time of year is for teachers… it’s always sweet seeing how excited they are (says the one with no little ones of her own). I know that even though you are exhausted that you are eatin’ up all that quality time with your family! Miss your smiling face every day.

It is indeed “the most wonderful time of the year!” I miss you too. I think I might be more excited than my children right now. I’m sure they’ll catch up and surpass me soon.
