Spring is on its way- I promise! I know in many corners of the world this may not feel true, but we must believe. With Spring comes the rejuvenation of the teacher spirit. Lovely.
Of course, it means crazy kid times too, so hold on to your hats.
It also means testing. For many of you this will be the last year before switching completely to the Common Core. Are you ready? This switch is going to challenge your instruction, but I believe in a good way. The more work I do with CCSS the more I see depth of teacher knowledge coming to the surface so you can really dig deep with your students. Given the right support, I think you’re going to like it. Void of the right support, well it will be tough- but I have faith in you! And, I’ll continue to offer you support right here.
Let’s get started now with today’s Zap of Wynn. This video is our sixth Common “bite of the Core” if you will. Today we examine Standard of Math Practice #5: Using appropriate tools strategically. If you missed the previous 5 videos in this series, have no worries. The links you need to access those and the handouts that go with them are available below this week’s video.
As with all the videos in this series I encourage you to share them with your colleagues.
The more who know… the stronger we all are.
