3 Tips to Help Struggling Readers

Welcome to this week’s Zap of Wynn! I’m so glad you came over to watch the video. This week we are concentrating on helping  children who struggle with reading. As a mom of a struggler, I can tell you this issue is complex, yet there are many small and easy things you can do along the way to take some of the stress out of reading.

The tips I’ll share with you today are not about content and word attack strategies. They are not about fluency and comprehension. These tips are about making reading physically more accessible to all students. You don’t have to suffer with any particular “thing” or “issue” for these tips to be useful to you.

Check out today’s video and please share your thoughts with us. We want to build a community here where we can share across the world our insights and experiences to help all children. Be the first. Leave your comment right below the video and then share these 3 tips with your colleagues.

    Hi Wynn:
Love it! I use these and they really make a difference. Glad to know the research still supports the use of these tools.
I have a lámp on my desk for one to one teacher – time with struggling readers.
Will add the arrow to my Orange colored straight edges (strips of paper I got from the art teacher recycle bin).

    Thanks so much!!!

    Teacher stores have blue yellow
pink highlighter tape rolls that work nicely and it sticks to the book and pulls off to reuse several times .. Lakeshore on Joppa Road in Baltimore.
