Has your resolve ever been tested? Ha! Mine too.
When this happens to me I feel the words, “Damn it” coming up from the depths of my being. You can say it with a ba-zillion intonations and meanings. Yesterday and today however it just plain means damn it!
Yesterday I had a reservation to fly to New York. It was a fairly early flight and would have landed me in the Big Apple about five pm; opening up a delightful window for me to jog in Central Park. I thought that would be hugely fun. I was excited.
Delayed- delayed- canceled.
Fine. The new flight would still get me there in time to run before the sun went down.
Sit at gate- sit in plane- circle first city- circle second city.
Finally at hotel. Sun has set. Oh well, there are still people on the sidewalks running and out for the evening. I suit up. Grab the phone- you know the one with the cool-ass C25K app. Hit the sidewalk.
Notice my GPS isn’t working.
For many of you, this would not be a big deal. For a data geek- it’s a deal breaker. Damn it! Stopped. Figured the run just wasn’t meant to be for this day. So, I did something that freaked me out. I decided to get up extra early and run in the morning! What has happened to me?
Sure enough I acted on my decision got up early this morning, put on my running gear, and set out for my run in Central Park. It was nice albeit way more hilly than I imagined. Eeeks- but navigate those hills I did. (Yoda speak)
I was gettin’ it done. I made the turn and started back toward my beginning point. GPS was cranking. Data was being collected. Sweat dripping. YES! And then…
My phone flew off my waist, hit the asphalt, and popped into four pieces. Not broken- count my blessing, but the battery popped out. Bye bye data. Waaaah! That’s my big baby cry.
Yep, the last “jog” before the cool down walk and I lost all my data. Grrr
No data- means re-do. It is as if the run never even happened. Week 2 day 3 version 2 starts tomorrow.
